LOSING CULTURAL LANDSCAPES

Un omaggio al paesaggio agreste mediterraneo e alle piante che ne hanno disegnato l’identità culturale. Il progetto Loosing Cultural Landscapes – Al tramonto, racconta la penisola italiana in frammenti di paesaggi che ne evidenziano la radice culturale e quel che ne rimane, attraverso le piante che sono state la base dello sviluppo agronomico divenuto ora industriale.

Giorgia Severi ricalca un paesaggio testimone del cambiamento climatico e della violenza esercitata dall’azione antropica sul territorio negli ultimi due secoli, ma evidenzia anche il rapporto simbiotico che l’uomo ha avuto con la terra negli ultimi millenni. La serie di opere realizzate tra il 2024 e il 2025 prende forma direttamente sulle cortecce degli alberi di viti, ulivi, fichi e castagni dall’Appennino al litorale romagnolo.

Vitigni, frutteti e campi sono i luoghi in cui da secoli si coltiva la cultura contadina e dove, al calar del sole, si esprimono i colori del paesaggio italiano che la pittura ha sempre cercato di ritrarre.

A tribute to the Mediterranean rural landscape and the plants that have shaped its cultural identity. The project “Loosing Cultural Landscapes – At Sunset” recounts the Italian peninsula reading fragments of landscapes that highlight its cultural roots and what remains of them, through the plants that have been the basis of agricultural development, which is now industrialized.

Giorgia Severi traces a landscape that has witnessed climate change and the violence made by human activity on the land over the last two centuries, but also highlights the symbiotic relationship that humanity has had with the land over the past millennia. The series of works created between 2024 and 2025 takes shape directly on the bark of trees like vines, olives, figs, and chestnuts from the Apennines mountains range to Romagna coast.

Vineyards, orchards, and fields are the places where peasant culture has been cultivated for centuries and where, at sunset, the colors of the Italian landscape that painting has always sought to portray come to life.
